This statement was received will more ap- | proval than dissent. Some of tlie provisions wore allowed to go through. All the siiips in the port except those leaving will anchor in the harbor, including the Government steamer Tntanekai. Several, however, j having wireless and also Morse slgnal- ! ling will be in constant touch with the lshore. j A crowd of about 200 was addressed j at tiie Post Offiro Square this morning I by Mr Canham, president of the Auckj land Waterside Workers’ Union. He i said there had been a ha*il job to present a waterside workers’ strike in Auckland. If the Strike Committee decided to place the matter in the j hands of the United Federation of Labor, lie had no doubt that the body would he able to create an industrial lire, which would take a very Jong while to put out. A DESERTED PORT. Wellington, October 28. The Maitai, which arrived from Auckland at 7 a.m., only remained in port a little over three hours, leaving again for the South about 10 a.m. It is expected that HALS. Pysche, which arrived from Sydney direct this morning, will be the only vessel at any wharf by 4 o’clock this afternoon. All others in port will then he in the stream. Tlie Union Company’s big laundry-van going on to the wharf was turned back by the strikers.
