(Received 10.50-a.m.) London, October 22Judge- Avory. in sentencing Caudle to/two months’ imprisonment on the charge of manslaughter of Sir A. Douglas, in the AisgiH collision, said he rushed on recklessly. The trouble with coal was no excuse for neglect ot the signals. Caudle’s conscience would haunt him for the remainder ot his life. That, alone would be severe punishment, hut it was necessary to pass, a sentence on him in the inteiest of travellers.
