PERSONAL.
The Professorial Board of Victoria College, Wellington, last night decided to nominate Mr F. E. McKenzie, 8.A., as 'the next Rhodes scholar, says a Press Association telegram.
Mr C. E. Seabright, station-master of Midhirst, who was originally under notice of transfer to Patea, will now go to Inglewood, whilst Mr O’Shea’s place at the Patea station will be taken by Mr Voltz, of the Stratford staff.
A pretty wedding was quietly celebrated at St. John’s Church, Wellington, on Monday, when Miss Myrtle Winks, who arrived by the Rimutaka from England, daughter of the late Mr John Winks, of Hawera, was married to Mr M. Broderick, son of Mr and Mrs Broderick, of Hawera. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dr. Gibb.
Dr. Alex. McArthur, M.A., LI.D., and senior stipendiary magistrate and district coroner in Wellington for many years, was found clead in his office at the Courthouse shortly after midnight. A Press Association message to-day states that he was in his usual health last night. It is believed the cause of death was heart disease or apoplexy. Deceased was born in Glasgow in 1855. Before coming to 'Wellington he was principal and proprietor of Queen’s College, Auckland, and'"previously was first principal in the Auckland Training College. He leaves a widow but no children.
