THE TRANSVAAL TROUBLE. [By Electric Telegraph—Gqryright] [United Press Association.! Johannesburg, October 21. The Laborites have decided to boy- ■ cott the banquet to the British Parliamentarians, and have refused to associate with Mr Gladstone and others indirectly responsible for bloodshed during the riots. WATERSIDE WORKERS' CONFERENCE. Sydney, October 21.
The Interstate Waterside Workers' Conference decided that members must • not work with seamen at wharf laboring work or with any but recognised unionists, provided that unionist labor is available, also that agreements must lie made terminable on 30 days' notice being given by either side. WATERSIDERS ANNOYED. [Peb Press .Association. I Wellington, October 22. All work on the wharves was suspended this morning from 8 till 10 in order that a meeting of the Waterside Workers' Union might be held to consider the shipwrights' grievances. Work was maintained as far as posrible in the interim by the Harbour Board's permanent staff, who stood loyal, but none of the Board's casual hands turned to. Work on the Union Company's vessels was carried on by vhe sailors and other men, while work on the wharves at such ships was done by the Harbour Board's permanent rfcaff. The waterside workers resumed at 10 o'clock,, but when they turned to again they were drafted to vessels other than ■thpse-at which they had been working when they knocked off hist night. This has caused considerable irritation to the men. The meeting this morning resolved to place the shipwrights' dispute in the hands of the Federation of Labor unreservedly. The position is not yet satisfactory. Later. The watersjders, instead of resuming work after lunch, held another meeting to consider what action to take in consequence of the alleged employment of free labour and the. attitude of the employers.
