At the trial' of Candle in connection with the AiSgill disaster, Candle readmitted his neglect of the signals. Questioned regarding the effect, he "broke down and wept. He sat griefstricken dining the of the proceedings. The jury returned a verdict of guilty, with a strong recommendation to mercy oh account of the onerous nature and difficulties of a drivers duties. ( Sentence was deferred.
