Aucddand Meat Company,’ on' Visiting the premises in M akehekl Strce.t bn Sunday' night, found that an attempt had been made to break into the safe. The look was shattered by an explosion, hut the door withstood the shock and remained closed’ though the handle was blown off and considerable damage was done to the office furniture. A burned fuse lay on the floor, and its appearance indicated that a, fairly big charge of gelignite, pr a similar explosive was used. „ ‘ ; Wanganui, October 20. Burglars' entered the premises of Arthur Coe, saddler, last night and removed the safe to a stable yard near by and opened it with an explosive. The burglars were disappointed, as the safe contained only some papers of no value to them.
