THE SHOWS.

STRATFORD SHOW. The Stratford A. and P. Association advertise their summer show to be held on the 3rd and 4th December, 1913. The progress of this Association reflects great credit pn the district generally and on the officials and members. Commencing operations in 1910, the Association at its first - effort, held a show which would have been highly creditable to an institution of many years standing, and each succeeding show has been a great improvement on its predecessor. The grounds comprise an area of 38 acres and were, of course, covered with logs and stumps. These have all been removed and the land levelled, drained, and generally improved. The'accommodation for exhibits cannot well be improved upon. Ample cattle pens and well-fenced and well-grassed paddocks are available. Horse-boxes and bull-boxes were built in 1911. In addition to the original members’ grandstand buildings, which include offices and luncheon rooms, there was erected last year at a cost of £SOO, a new _ - grandstand for the use of the public. The Association was fortunate in securing grounds which had good shelter trees, under which family and picnic parties may enjoy themselves. Hotwater is provided free. The support accorded past shows clearly indicates that the public were well satisfied, and the forthcoming show promises to again eclipse its predecessors* Intending exhibitors should note that sche--. dules are obtainable from the secre-n ■ tarv.

HAWERA SHOW. The thirtieth annual show of the F.gmont A. and P. Association takes place at Hawera on November 26th and 27th. It claims to be one of the most striking and successful Shows of the New Zealand year. There is a big prize list, and entries yvi 11 close, on November loth. As is usual, this verypopular fixture is sure to:receive good support from Stratford.
