THE LIBERAL CAMPAIGN.

Mr Wade, opening the Liberal election campaign, declared that on all 6ide& there were manifestations of dissatisfaction at the Labor regime. The Liberals confidently expected a favorable verdict at the polls. Labor in three years had spent nine millions more than their predecessors, and had run up a deficit. The credit of the State had been seriously shaken. An era of* moderate and sane finance was absolutely necessary. THE VICTORIAN BUDGET. Melbourne, October 16. In the Assembly Mr Watt delivered the .B.udget. .Victoria's revenue for the year just ended was £10,203,070, and her expenditure £10,184,671. The estimated revenue for the current year is £10,60-1,271, and the expenditure £10,594,379. It i santicipated that no proposals will be made for an alteration in taxation this year. The proposals include the expenditure of half-a-millipn in erecting new schools. Large contracts wove let for the electrification of the suburban railways during the past five years, and the Government had practically provided locally the whole loan requirements. The debate was adjourned. WEST AUSTRALIA BUDGET. (Received 9 S O a.m.) Perth, October 17. According to the Budget, the revenue for the past year was £4,596,659 and the expenditure £4,787,063, the deficit being £311,515. It is estimated that for the current year the revenue will he £5,393,000, and the expenditure £5,523,000. THE DIVORCE LAWS. (Received 9.50 a.m.) Melbourne, October 17. Dr. Moloney moved in the House that the evils in the divorce law of the various States should he eliminated. He is enacting a law. %»' the Commonwealth. The debate was adjourned.
