H( announced that he would invite the Court's permission to withdraw this prosecution, as accused had already been severely punished. Early in August the authorities at Cawnpore demolished'a portion of r mosque in connection-with street'improvements. After a mass- meeting. Moslems proceeded -toy .the' mosque r.nd started to replace the building taken down. Police appeared or. the scene and ar. a result of firing thirteen rioters were killed ana forty wounded. Numerous arrests were made.
