Hitherto the championship has never been won by a amateur, hut to-day’s play leaves H. Gillies, a New Zealander, representing Woking Club, in a fair way of winning. His play outshone His opponents’, and he finished first with 75—a record for the course. Gassiat, holder of the championship, was seventy-six; Braid, Duncan, Tom Rail and Massey 79; and Taylor 81.
