Twenty suffragettes interrupted a service at tbf Abbey chanting “for the imprisoned suffragettes.’-’ They left quietly when requested. MRS PANKHURST’S SCHEME. To outwit the New York immigration authorities, Mrs Pankhurst declares that she will land in disguise. MEDICAL MAN THRASHED. x (Received 9.45 a.m.) London, October 12. Three suffragettes waylaid Dr. Forward, medical officer at Holloway Prison, and thrashed him with a sjambok. Several scavengers, thinking the man was attacking the women; held Forward while the woman flog-, ged him in revenge for forcible feeding. “MAY COD FORGIVE THEM.” A number of suffragettes during the Day of Atonement service at Bayswater Synagogue shouted: “May God. forgive Herbert Samuel and Rufus Isaacs for denying freedom to women : may He forgive them for consenting to the torture of women.” LLOYD GEORGE’S EFFIGY. Mr Lloyd George’s effigy was burnt in the street at Bedford, where a suffragettes’ meeting was broken up, the speakers escaping by climbing the railing of the churchyard. The crowd tore down the railing, but the police rescued the women.
