CRICKET.
At tiic annual meeting of the Eltliarn Chib on Wednesday night the following report was adopted:— In reviewing tho work of tlie chib for the past season it is very gratifying to see the Eltham Club once more the winners of the South Taranaki Cricket Shield, the club’s record in the shield fixtures being:—played S, won 5, draw n2, lost 1. The matches were played in a friendly spirit and were a source of enjoyment to all who participated. The financial position of the club is not as satisfactory as we would wish, but the expenditure during the past season was abnormal on account of procuring new matting, net. etc.
Officers for the ensuing season | were elected as follow:—Patron, .Mr I \. McGarry ; president, IMr G. W. ! Taylor; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Hyde, A. G. Newman, A'. Leatliam, and H. A. Xnttall; secret iry and treasurer, Mr -I. 0. Lording; general committee, Messrs .1. Hnllivan, J, McVeagh, J. JTalpin, and M- Gng- | ley ; selectors, Messrs W. G. Benin ti and J. 0. Lording; delegates to the South Taranaki Cn’cket Association. Messrs J. McYcagh and J. Halpin.
