Hawker was attempting a 190-miles non-stop«flight. Eng'ue trouble caused a sideslip, and was too low to recover its 'equilibrium. In the fall the engine was torn from its fastenings and crashed through the unoccupied passenger seat, missing FTawker by a couple of feet. Hawkers back is severely injured, but his conditiousis not .dangerous.
