Mx-Holman,'in a lukewarm speech declared that he was not going to ask the House to approve, hut if they, approved the Government in- «. tended to get the special side of the scheme settled ..before the. House accepted it early next sssion. Mr. Wade called the Premier's attention to his attitude in regard to the Royal Commission, and asked ,if he would re-open, the matter so as to include the Medlow charge. Hot pas-sages-a't-arms and uproar followed, ending in.Mr Holman demanding.notice of Mr Wade's question. Interviewed, v Mr Holman declared that he : had no intention of letting Mr Wadeiescape the situation of calumny into which he had,plunged.himself by his heroics and mpck martyrdom. NORTON-CRIFFITH' CONTRACT. '(Received 1,45 p.m.) Sydney, October 3. The. Assembly, on the voices,, negatived the Norton-Griffith contract.
