ATTEMPTS AT REFLOATING.
[Per Press (Association.] Dunedin, October 2. •It is understood that the owners o the Tyrone (the Union Steamship Co. have formally abandoned the vesse to Lloyds. It now rests with th«' underwriters to say whether they wil accept the abandonment. The: pbsi tion now is .that Lloyds people wi) i conduct salvage operations on behal of the underwriters, the Union Com pany lending all the assistance it can The insurances on the hull are held in England, while 'New Zealand coin panies carry the principal risks on tin cargo. It is said that the vessel i insured for £75,000, and that 2000 ton; of cargo on board are insured for on £200,000. 'To-day a boiler wa taken round from Harrington Point, and after an unsuccessful attempt necessitating a return to the heads, was got on board. Three times a surf boat was safely navigated round tin stern of the stranded vessel and go salvage gear on board. The Maitai brought from Wellington two six-tor anchors and one seven-ton anchor, twi powerful pumps and boilers, and sevei inch wire hawsers and smaller cables most of which gear was used in connection with the Indraharah. It i--1 understood that it will take three day: to get all the gear round to the steamer and have everything ready for an attempt at re-floating. Sanguine hope? are entertained. Captain It. S. Taylor, of the London Salvage Association, went to see the vessel to-day.
