TWO TERRITORIALS FINED.

FAILINC TO ATTEND PARADE. At the Court this morning Patrick Coe was charged with failure to attend tho parade of H. Co. on September 17. Sergeant-Major Sonar said defendant had had the usual notice to attend. In the 1912-13 year he had only put in twelve parades and put in seven days in camp. Since uie opening o. the current year in June he had attended only one parade. A fine of £2, with costs 7s, was imposed, in default fourteen days' military detention.

George Kindberg was also charged with failing to attend parade on September 17th.

Sergeant-Major Bouar said Kindberg had been transferred to the Territorials in June, but had only put in. one parade—since the present summons was issued.

Kindberg said he was. a baker am had to start work at 3.30 a.m. and at 3 a.m. on two days a week.

The Sergeant-Major said the drill was over by 9.30 p.m. The S.M. said the drill happened only once a fortnight and if defendant attended he would still have four hour: sleep before rising for' work. Many i man was willing to lose a whole night': sleep a week in order to go to a dance He thought it would lie no hardship on defendant to attend—he coul< easily make up his sleep in the afternoon. He asked if defendant was pre pared to attend regularly in future. Kindberg said he was.

The S.M. said that in view of this promise a light fine would be imposed, but if it were necessary to charge de fondant again a heavy fine or military detention could be expected. A fine of 10s, with costs 7s, was imposed.
