In the Jockey Club Stakes, Tracery looked a winner until the bushes were reached, when Contitiver caught him and won by three lengths. Mr W. Allison, before the race, offered Mr Belmont £3-3.000 for Tracery if he was not beaten this season, and Mr Belmont refused the offer.
