The circumstances connected with the death of Lawrence \arian Milson, a tailor, 20 years of age, victim Of a motor car accident at Mangere, on Sunday last, were,, shown to be of an unusual nature at the inquest this morning,-before the coroner, Mr K. He had a # fcapture of the right collar bone. He said too, that he was what was knowiUjfds a “bleeder-.” Shortly after admission, his collar bone was set. The day following his shoulder was very much swojlen, and he was very blue, in color. He sank rapidly and died at 7 o’clock on the evening of the 29th. The cause of death was fracture of the right collar-bone, taumatic, hemmorhage, and hemmorhage due to what was known as haemophilia, which was a congential defect affecting the coagulatory property of the blood. Any slight wound might cause such a subject to bleed to death, and one rarely lived beyond the age of 20. Deceased’s mother said that she bad experienced considerable trouble with him, and it was-a wonder that be had lived so long. A verdict in accordance, with the medical testimony was returned, the coroner recording that the injuries'were accidentally received.

CULT OF THE KNIFE.

Hamilton, September 30

Tho methods of modern surgeons came under review hy Dean Darby at Hamilton on Sunday, when lie made a vigorous appeal to the congregation to guard against operations. However much one liked to feel that money was not the principal determining factor in operations, the fact was that the way to the operating theatre was paved with gold. The doctor ol old was thoughtful, cautious, and observant ; the present medico was a prospector armed with tools to bore inside his fellow men, while women were rolled to the operating theatre as to a bijou show. The result was today that it was difficult, to find a woman who had not been operated on, while twenty years ago it was equally difficult to find one who. had had an operation. Many cases of operations were an admision of ignorance, as il the diagnosis had been more exact before the operations there would be less human suffering. Doctois knew that once the knife had been in a patient he would return.
