The municipal golf l.niss at Yarmouth have been destroyed with acids. Suffragettes’ messages wore found declaring: “No property is safe. Wo fired the Yarmouth timber yard. There is no mystery. Oil was poured on the planks, and a candle left , burning.” The damage to the timber yard amounted to £35,000.
Ex-King Manuel is returning to England. His, bride states,ySficcrafwy land, states a Berlin cablegram. His bride remains at Sigmarihgen for the winter. ’
Capt. Thompson, Secretary of the Waitara Harbor Board, showed the Waltara Mail on Friday evening a bottle containing a “message,” from the sea. The bottle' was picked yp on the Waihi beach, and the note inside, addressee! “to my dear relatives” purported to indicate that the s.s. Athenic was sinking in the Indian ocean. The thing, was a silly hoax, but the writing seemed to be that of an adult, whose idea of a joke is much restricted, As a matter of fact the Athenic is now on her way from Hobart to Wellington.
