CHURCH CINEMAS.
The Methodist Church of Canada is contemplating the establishment of a cinema theatre in every large city in the country, and to serve as a method of educating the people on “safe and sane lines.” This step has arisen out of the success that has attended the recent enterprise of the Missionary Department, in sending to the various churches a “movie” machine and a series of films relating to foreign missionary work. Already, at Vancouver, 8.C., one hall has been appropriated as an up-to-date cinema theatre, where the films used will be distinctly educational in character, and will deal with various phases of church and public activity. While the organisers have no monetary object in view, it
1 is proposed to conduct the theatre on ; a basis similar to that on which the ordinary picture palace is operated. A company, possessing a substantial capita], and having a registered office in Toronto, has been formed to control the scheme.
