__ .—♦- FALL FROM A BALCONY. [Per Press Association.] . Auckland, September 26. Miss Ada Cliff, while shaking mats over a balcony on the top flat of a three-storeiy residence, overbalanced and fell between thirty and forty feet to the ashphalt path. Her fall was broken by a clothes line, which she clutched. It broke the severity of her drop, and probably saved her life. She was removed the hospital unconscious and terribly bruised, suffering from shock. No bones were broken, and her speedy recovery appears assured. DANNEVIRKE CROSSING FATALITY. Pannevirke, September 27. \ An inquest was held his morning on thf body of James Richard Brown, who was killed in a collision with a train at a level crossing half a mile from Dannevirke yesterday. A verdict of accidental death, *no blame.being attached to anyone, was returned. A 'LAMPLIGHTER'S DEATH. Nelson, September 2f. James Goodman, single, a lamplighter, committed suicide. He was found hanging in an outhouse at the rear of his dwelling. ,
