WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. QUESTION DAY. Wellington, September 24. Replying to questions Ministers said: That in order to avoid cases of hardship under the rule compelling retirement from tne Public Serive at the age of 65, it had been agreed that pensions ranging trom £1 to 30s would be given in certain cases. That the new Education Syllabus had been fully discussed at the conference of inspectors in February last, and no good purpose could be served by again referring it to the Educational Institute. That it was proposed to establish at an early date railway hooinng offices in convenient situations in the four chief centres where tickets could be bought. That the matter of affording relief to local bodies in connection with the Harbor Board election expenses would oe considered when the Harbors Bill was before the House. Tnat it was not proposed to introduce legislation to compel the stamping oi boots and shoes with a declaration as to materials of which they are made.
