BANKS AND LAW MATCH. The return match hetween the Stratford and New Plymouth Banks and Law was played on the Show Grounds yesterday, and ended in a win for the New Plymouth team by five points to three. The day not being a general holiday, the spectators naturally could not be numbered by their thousands, hut judging by the great outburst of applause and at times the hearty laughter of those who did attend were let in for a treat. The play was fast and furious,as these matches generally are, and it is stated on good authority that one or two of the players were compelled to resort to a short spell on the side line. Tt is not fair to discriminate among the players, for one and all fought to the bitter end, but the Stratford team are much indebted for the heady instructions of the apothecary of the team. For the winners Webster scored and Thompson converted, while Tocker scored for the losers. Mr J. H. Thompson carried "tlie whistle.
