FllUj, AT LYALL BAY
[Peb Press Association. | AVellington, September 23. At Lyall Bay, while the Harbour Board's rocket brigade was at practice, a rocket set fire to the grass on the hillside. The flames spread rapidly and threatened the bouse of Mr Smith, Government inspector, on the crest of the hill. Fortunately, only a'faint breeze was blowing at the time, and the flames were subdued after a couple of hours' fighting before serious damage was done. Had a strong wind been blowing the outlook would have been serious.
