I A FLANMILL ACCIDENT. [Per Press Association.] Christchruch, September 22, There was admitted to the m'.<;)uil to-day a young man named Maurice Alaquiro. who is suffering I from shock and .serious injuries sufforj >'<[ in an accident at a Woodend ilaxf mill. Maquire was working in the j mill when i his left hand was drawn into the machinery and his arm was j torn off just helow the shoulder, very J severely lacerating . tjie shoulder also. Dr. Will, of Rangiorn, attended to him and sent him to town after the injuries had been attended. to. At the hospital Maguire was reported to : he progressing as favorably as could he expected,.though he is still suffering from shock., ,
A DRUNKARD'S DEATH. Wellington, September 2:.'. -William John Mallett, a labour, aged 38, who was arrested in the city on Saturday for drunkenness, died in the hospital to-day. He had been suffering from hemorrhage of the brain, caused by alcoholic excess, and was also"affected by heart trouble. DRAGGED BY THE STIRRUPS. Jaivercargill, September 22. A girl named Lena Wilson, aged 13, daughter of Joseph Wilson, farmer, of iTe Waewae, was thrown from a horse on Sunday morning and dragged 15 chains on a rough road. She was discovered staggering about the road by a passing farmer and his wife. and was suffering from serious injuries V the head and face. She was conveyed to the Riverton Hospital in a precarious condition.
