IX TARANAKI DIS! RICT. Twelve sections in Xgatimaru, Ohura, Tangitu, I'pper Waitara ami Aiahoe Survey Districts, in the Taranaki Land District, will he open for selection under optional conditions up to 4 p.ui. on October 15, 1913, at the hands Olrice, New Plymouth. Section 3, block 9, 03 acres 2 roods, first-class land, in the Stratford County, Xgatimaru S.D., is situated on the Makun Hoad, unjoining.the township of Huiroa. Access is from the Huiroa railway station, about a mile and a half distant by metalled dray road. The • section comprises Hat swampy land and low easy spurs. The forest is light. The soil is of papa formation, and the section is well watered. If drained it would make a good small milking farm. The total price for cash purchase is £2lO ; halfyearly rent under O.R.P.' tenure, £0; under renewable lease, £4 16s. Sections 13 and 40, block 14, each 77 acres 2 roods in area, first-class, land, are in the Ohura County, Oliura S.D., and are situated on Hie Roto Road, in a bend of the Ohura Liver. The access is from Tanmarunui, twenty miles; Ongarue, forty miles; or Wlhangamomona, forty miles; and from Ohura, eleven miles. From Taumarunui the access is by bridle track. From Ongarue and Ohura the road is formed for wheel traffic to within a few chains of the sections, with the exception of two bridges, which are at present under construction. The •sections are exceptionally good ones, comprising flat to slightly undulating country, covered with a heavy, forest and a dense undergrowth. The soil is of a very good quality, resting on papa formation, and the sections are well watered. The total price for cash purchase is £390 each ; half-yearly rent under O.R.P. tenure, £9 each; under renewable lease, £7 IGs each. Section G, block 1, 131 acres, firstclass land, in the Waitomo County, Tangitu S.T)., is situated on the Mokauiti Road. Access from Waimiha railway station about thirteen miles distant —by formed dray-road for eight miles, which is being metalled, and Itv partly formed dray-road and Gft. bridle-track for remaining distance; It i possible to got drays to the section, although the road is not completed. Section 7, block 13, GOO acres, in the ( lifton County, Upper Waitara S. D., is comprised of .second-class land, and is situated on the Hoad,
about a mile, and a half from its junction with the Piko Hoad. .Access from Urcnui about fifteen miles distant—about thirteen miles being dray-road (eight miles metalled), a mile and a half bridle-road, and balance unformed road. The section comprises rough country, with high ridges and gorgy t : - eeks, covered with a heavy forest with a dense undergrowth. The soil is of fair quality, on a papa formation.

Section 7, block 15 (G.‘35 acres) is situated on the Whangamomona Road, about fourteen miles and three-quar-ters from Whangamomona. Homestead-sites are obtainable in the south-eastern and north-eastern corners of section 12 and in the north-west corner of section 2. About one-third of section 2 comprises an old burn now in second heavy growth; the balance of sections is covered with a heavy forest. The soil is of good quality, on a papa formation, and the sections are well watered. Elevation ranges from 31.0 ft. to 1190 ft. above sea-level. Total price, cash purchase, section 12 £1530, section 2 £1900; half-yearly rent under 0.R.P., £3B 5s and £47 10s; under renewable lease £3O 12s and £3B. Sections 11 and 12, block 11 (872 acres and 528 acres), are situated on the Tabunaroa Road, section 11 being about 131 miles and section 12 about 111 miles from Whangamomona Railway Station —12 miles by dray-road and the ■ balance bridle-road. Section 12 is about a mile from Wanganui River, where there is a landing stage and cargo-shed. Broken pastoral country covered with a heavy bush. There is a small clearing on the eastern boundary of section 12, now covered with fern, etc. The soil is of good quality, on a papa formation, and the motions are well watered. Average might between ridges and valleys is: Section 11, 600 ft; section 12, 700 ft.
