Matthews, Bennett raid Co. report a full yarding of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last, there being a big yarding of springers, which were well competed for, ami in good demand. Following are the prices obtained; — Mixed yearlings £1 10s to £2 IGs, empty heifers £3 us to £3 17s, old store cows £1 10s to £2 lus, good do. £3 us to £■! 13s, old and backward springers £3 10s to £4. lus, good do. £5 10s to £8 7s Gd. At the horse fair on Friday last there was only a moderate entry o! horses. Good horses were in good demand. Hacks made from £4 10s to £lO, light harness horses £0 to £ls. half- to 3 draught horses £l4 os to £27, light unbroken horses £4 to £5 10s, heavy do. £lO to £l9 10s, weeds 10s to £2, sb.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 17th in stant:— Wheat. —We have sold an Australian cargo at 37s c.i.f. 1 lie market if quiet but steady, and the outlook is uncertain.

AAT quote: 2 year Shorthorn heifers, close to profit, £7 10s, £7 15s, and £8; heifers, backward and small £4 5s t( £5 15s; backward heifers, but in good condition, £5 17s 6d to £6 15s; 3 year colored heifers £7 17s 6d, £8 ss, £8 12s 8d up to £9 2s 6d; good chain cows; showing Holstein cross, up t( £ll ; ordinary sorts £5 10s, £6 10s. £7 155,. £8 ss.
On AA r ednesday, 17th Inst., we held our usual monthly salef in our Tc AVera yards, when we yarded 110 head of cattle and 160 sheep. Prices were as fellows:—Young store cows £3 15s to £ !, 2 year steers 77s to 87s, 2 year empty heifers 755, colored yearlin.gr 60s to 755, yearling hull £2, yearling steers 45s to 57s 6d. AV.ei offered on account of .Air Athol Meredith hie dairy herd of, young cows..-Several of the cows were in milk and epnscqnenxlv did not realise so much as they would have clone if they had not calved. NEWTON KING’S WEEKLY AUCTION REPORT.
On Friday, 121 b inst., at my Waiwakaiho yards, I had a fine yarding of all classes of cattle and also threat pens of sheep. Competition throughout was good for all cattle, with the exception of yearling heifers, which wore easier. Some good springing heifers wore yarded, the best of these selling very well, the backward sorts or small heifers finding very litto enquiry. Prices obtained wore as follows;—Yearling heifers from £2 14s 6d to £3 7s for best quality with some color, and £2 to £2 7s 6d for smaller grade cattle, yearling steers £2 17s to £3 os for, good, and £1 11s to £2 6s for colored lines, 2 year steers £l, empty colored,2 year heifers £4 4s to £o, grades £3 7s 6d to £4, hulls from £2 os to £o, good store cows £3 18s to £-! 14s, smaller framed cows or poorer in condition £3 to £3 13s, aged cows £2 to £2 17s, cows and calves £2 1 Is to £3 IBs, 3 year bullocks £6 15s, springing heifers (good quality) with color £7 os to £B, good grade heifers £5 10s to £7, emaler £4 to £5, choice dairy cows £l2 los to £lo, good sorts £0 10s to £O, aged £4 to £5 15s, ewes and ambs 17s Gd.
I At Kaponga on the same day there was a good entry and attendance, with an excellent demand for the whole yarding. On Monday, 15th hist., at my Douglas y ards, I had a very good yarding, with an improved attendance of buyers from all parts of the district. A good number of springing heifers wore offered, those selling very readily at improved values. Store cattle were in excellent demand, practically the whole yarding being cleared. Yearling
tears made from £2 15s 6(1 to £2 19s, midler or had colored £1 7* Gd to £2 s fid, yearling Jersey heifers £3 l(\s,
grade yearling heifers £2 3s Gd to £2 10s, 18 month steers £3 15s, hulls £4 3s, fat ewes £1 2-s Gd, f.m. ewes 12s, hoggets 11s 9d to 13s, store and forward cows £3 10s to £5 Is, dairy cow* £7 15s to £l2 for choice dairy cows, and £4 15s to £0 10s for guaranteed cows, springing heifers £5 10s to 07 ss, small £3 15s to £4 10s. At Atratford, on Tuesday, there was a go' 1 yarding of all classes, with a fair attendance of the public. Com-
petition, whilst not brisk, was much improved on recent sales, and the majority of the yarding changed hands at the hammer or privately. Some very nice pens of yearling cattle were entered, a well grown line of steers being sold at £3 os, and some good yearling Holstein heifers (not too good in color, but showing a lot of dairy quality) realised £4 8«. On Wednesday, 17th inst., at my Stony River yards, yearling steers made from £2 Is Gd to £3 Is, Jersey steers lus to £1 4s Gd, choice line of Jersey yearling heifers £4 10s Gd, grade yearling Letters £2 9s Gel to £3 Is, heifers in calf £2 IGs, store cons £3 18s to £1 u«, small or aged £2 us to £3 9s, forward cows £5 2s Gd to £5 12s, fat cows £G 10s to £7 18s, empty 2 year heifers £4 ' us, dairy eowfi £u to £7, springing heifers £3 I()« to £6 lus.
At Oakura on Thursday, for Mr J. Healy’s clearing sale, I had a good attendance, with excellent competition throughout for everything offered. The herd of cows were a good milking lot, mostly at profit and sold at from £5 lus to £lO ss, averaging £7 2s Gd for the lino of 35.
