FLOWER SOCIAL.
IN ST. ANDREW’S HALL. The flower social and concert held last evening drew a large attendance. The Hall bad been tastefully decorated for the occasion by Mesdames McNeelj Petrie and Campbell, and, much credit on their artistic taste Amongst the items in the programme for the evening were the following;— Violin solo, Miss Hopkins j song “Roses,” Miss Hindman; recitation Mrs Mackay, “A Surprise” ; song, Mi Douglas, “Nancy Lee.” Mr Douglas sang in response to an encore “Lei Me Die in the Deep.” At this stage eight flower girls carrying bunches o flowers sang “The Flower Song,” am were called upon later in the evening to repeat the song. By special re quest, Miss Evans played a selectioi on the piano entitled “The Storm.” A duet entitled “Sea of Glass” wa; sung by the Misses Mackay and 11vine. Miss Cramer followed with r
violin solo. Miss Mackay sang “Tin Swallows,” responding to an encor* with “What O’Clock?” Miss E. Henry gave a humorous recitation called “The tillage Clock.” Mrs Mackay,was call ed upon for another recitation, to which she responded with “My Los Youth,” from Longfellow. At the conclusion of the programme the ladies handed round refreshments and the flower girls disposed of th flowers on hand. The Chairman, or behalf of the congregation, thanked all who had helped to make the flower show a success by their presence and their part in the programme, thei> preparation of the hall for the occasion, and the providing of refresh merits. Special thanks were due tr those who had got up the concert, fo> their services. Mrs McXeely, assist ed by Miss Mackay, had the arrangements in hand, and the success of the entertainment was largely due to their efforts.
