Speculation was brisk during the day, the totalisator handling £20,905, an increase of £5378 over the corresponding day of last year. Additional results:—
Avondale Cup, of 500 sovs.; one and a quarter miles.—Prince Merriwee 1, Merry Roe 2, Colonel Soult 3. Won by a length, with the third horse a length away. Royal Arms was caught in the tapes and ran in roar all the way. Time, 2min 8 2-5 sec.
Henderson Handicap, of 150 sovs.; seven furlongs.—Potoa 1, Tragedy King, 2, Marconi 3. Won by three quarters of a length, with the second horse a length away. Time, liniu 29 3-osoc.
Spring Steeples, of 200sovs; about three miles.—Napper Tandy 1, Slang 2, Master Webb 3. Won by two lengths, with the third horse two lengths away. Time, Gmin 1 ,‘ksec. Flying Handicap, of 200sovs; six furlongs.—-Royal Irish 1, Crown Pearl 2, Allegation 3: Won by half a head, with two lengths between second and. third 1 . Time, I'm in 15'sec.
Islington Welter, of 150 sovs; one mile and a furlong.—Tiresome 1, Soultikoff 2, Down 3. Won by two lengths. Time, Imin 36' 3-sisec.
