A meeting of sporting bodies and prominent citizens decided to establish a fund for representation of Australians at the Olympic Games in 1914. Ten thousand pounds is mentioned as the amount required to equip a team. A committee was appointed to advance the scheme, ('Received 10.55 a.m.)

The Inspector-General of Police bar recommended the necessity of a material increase in the police force owing part'y- to the great growth of the population and also to the growth of cer-s tain forms of crime. He calls attention to the remarkable decrease of hotels in the metropolitan district. In 1882 there was one hotel to every 2}3 persons; now there is one to every 792. During thirty-one years, allowing for new licenses granted, 356 hotels were closed.
