The duty on woollen blankets was fixed at 25 per cent., ad valorem, and on woollen yarns at lt» per cent. The other changes are negligible. (Received 12.30 p.m.) Washington, September 16. The Tariff Bill is expected to reach the President for his signature on Saturday. Canadian products are largely affected, the reductions aver-i aging twenty per cent. Opponents ofj the recent United States-Canadian ie-i ciprocity agreement which was defeated atr the last Canadian elections are jubilant. They find that their prophecies have come true, and that the United States will make reductions without any corresponding changes in Canada’s tariff. Importers have been piling goods into the warehouses during past months in order to be first to supply the market with lower price foreign goods for which late demands may be expected.
