Following precedent the magistrate gaoled two seamen of the steamer Suffolk for seven .days for disobeying lawful command to be vaccinated, though he expressed a doubt as to its legality, notwithstanding the ship’s articles.
Seven fresh cases of smallpox were reported to-day.
NEW ZEALAND STEAMERS. , #J Sydney, September 16. When the Ulimaroa arrived hardly any wharf laborers were in sight. The horses were disembarked by a sailor at the winch and two permanent wharf
employees. The Wimmera was unloaded by the company’s permanent staff.
X.Z. OFFICIAL BULLETIN. [Pee Press Association.] Wellington, September 16. The official smallpox bulletin reports that there are no cases in Auckland or suburbs, but one case of a Maori is reported from Waikino, Bay of Islands.
