EDUCATION RESERVES

At a meeting of Education Reserves’ tenants at Wendon, an association wa ■? formed to look after their interest's. Dissatisfaction was expressed at the conditions of leases, especially to the clause relating to the value of improvements of long leases. They demanded compensation for improvements and also that the Land Board should be empowered to give concessions ana protection against floods. Attention was drawn to the silting up of the river through mining, and the necessity of making protective works. BREAKING AND ENTERING. Wellington, September 17. Two youths named Philip O’Donnell and James Lomax, who admitted breaking and entering a dwelling and stealing goods to the value of £IOO, were committed for sentence.
