CONFERENCE IN WELLINGTON

The Civil Service Conference con tinned to-day. It was decided to ascertain the possibilities of starting a journal in the interests of the Service, and to arrange an interview with the Commissioner to discuss the results of the deliberations of ‘ the Conference.
Resolutions were adopted urging that officers of sixty years of age who have completed forty years’ of service, be retired, and those who have reached sixty-five to retire irrespective of service; also that every officer have at least one month’s notice of transfer, except in emergency. It was decided that-in the event of a vacancy in any Dpartment, the officers in that Department should have priority of appointment. I
