THE KING'S INITIATIVE

Carson, speaking at Diuham, opposed the suggestion that the King should take the initiative in calling the Home Rule Conference. He tiepr<*at«d that His Majesty should be drawn into politics. The only sure ground was an appeal to the people. London, September 15.
The /Times, in a leader commenting on the suggestion that the King should exercise his prerogative and disallow the Homo Rule Bill, "insists that this authority was atrophied by disuse and its revival was fraught with the danger that it might prove antagonistic to the popular will.
