j At the .Supreme.,,, p/uirt, Jo-day. there were only three criminal qasvn and all were disposed of. A charge of criminal assalut on an infant girl resulted in 'acquittal.' Tlr.ve young men,.brotlie/s, cJarg* ed with unlawful michief !)v injuring a motor car, used without petmtoion/ were also acquitted by the State, though they remain civilly liable. Walter .Shaw, solicitor, phfaleM guilty to ten charge* of abuse of trust. The total of the sums involved was £O7OO. and there was one charge of false pretences. He was sentenced to throe years' imprisonment. It was state,! that Shaw's total liabilities were about £50,000. Jlis assets have not ,bcen fully ascertained, but it is probable that they will run into between 2s 6d and 5s in lift £.
