DOMAIN BOARD.

o MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Domain Board was Held yesterday afternoon when mere were present:—Messrs G. X. Curtis (chairman), T. H. Penn. It. McK. Mormon, P. Thomson, W. P. Kirkwood, and G. If. Tluntei (secretary). U was reported that the "present lessee of section bob had notified that he did not intend to remain in occupation of tiie section. —Mr Kirkwood suggested that the section be advertised for lease.—Mr Morison proposed an amendment that tiio section be. stumped, levelled and grassed with cue idea of having it planted in the following season.—Mr Thomson seconded. it was not, he said, the duty of the Board to keep ugly paddocks; it was more their duty to improve the lands under their care. Mr Kirkwood said he would not object to the suggested course it the section was in the middle of the town.—Mr Penn thought the section needed improving, but he thought it unwise to sacrifice the revenue now being received from the section.—The chairman agreed that the revenue was wanted. Next year, probably,‘the section might he improv'd.—Mr Kirkwood’s motion was finally carried, and the suggestion was made that the motion to beautify the section might bo carried if the .proposer were to make some proposition to raise further revenue. —It was further decided to allow the lessee to take a crop off the section, provided the whole of the section is cropped and the seed for the crop and .or the re-grassing is selected by the Board. The question of the amount rf rent to be demanded was left open. The whole matter was left in the hands of Messrs Curtis and Penn, with power

The chairman brought up the question of timber, stating that certain vork which had recently been done had been carried out in sap timber.

Ho thought it unwise to put in inferior timber, in view'of the fact that labor ■ost so much in proportion to the timber. On his motion it was decided co make it a standing instruction that inly, all-heart timber should be used n future work.

It wa?s reported that the recent treeolanling in Broadway Aorth has cost £ll 15s 9d without paying for the trees.

A donation of a hundred btoadleaf trees from Mr' Morisoh was accepted. Mr Morison .said'' the timber would be valuable for fencing posts.
