Carter). J'l e risitm was much interested in :V opeiati ms. and expressed surprise at the extent of the development that had taken place during the past year. He waf greatly impressed with the suit/ib !- ity of the oil for burning purposes. The gravity and flash-point were right up to the standard, and for naval Wei purposes the oil was excellent. Die Admiralty, he said, were keenly interested in the development of oil resources within the Empire, and naturally were following the local operations with no little interest. Auckland was being' made a naval base, and provision for the storage of oil for fuel would be made. Naturally, the Admiralty were desirous of obtaining supplies in the Dominion if they could be obtained. Lieutenant Mackenzie left for Wellington this morning, on route for Sydney.
