SPORTING.
A meeting of the committee of th© Dginont Racing Club, reports* l the Hawera Star, decided to vote £2O to the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club. Two names were placed- on the forfeit list. The sub-committee reported recommending that the 1J- mile and 7 furlong starting posts lie altered so as to give a straight run. The suggestion was adopted. The committee also ! recommended that concrete steps be erected in front of the grandstand. These, with other suggested improvements, were left to the sub-com-mittee with power to act. Mr Nolan was appointed chairman of committee for the ensuing year. It was decided to accept the offer of Dustin’s Ltd., for catering, subject to conditions to he drawn up. Mr G. Morse was re-appointed handicapper, Mr W. H. Hartgill judge, and clerk of scales, and Mr C. O’Connor starter.
