A STABBING AFFRAY

Adelaide, September 11
In reference to the stabbing affray on the Australian, the boatswain, Bieseler, remonstrated that a man struck him with a bottle. It is now stated that .this man and not Bieseler fatally stabbed Richter when he entered the forecastle. Subsequently a fireman named Sehiebak staggered out of the forecastle with a self-in-flicted wound in the throat. The statement that Bieseler was responsible for the stabbing is incorrect. NORFOLK ISLAND.

An expert, reporting on the Cockatoo Island dock, said the plant was in such condition that it might lead to a complete breakdown at any time. The power plant was . almost wholly obsolete and worn out,the cost of rendering it efficient being £41,950. PAPUAN EXPEDITION SAFE.
