At the Trades Union Congress a Manchester, a resolution was carried urging, a widespread movement to en force the limitation of public -purchases to goods made by unionist labor, also that the Government be' urged to legislate for the payments of workers on all statutory holidays. A resolution to nationalise mines and railways was carried by 1,9-14.000 votes against 43,000. A resolution was also adopted u favor of the extension of the IT, close to all adults. (Received 9.35 a.m.) London, September 7. The Congress passed resolutions protesting against unnecessary arma-j incuts, and urging the appointment oil a Royal Commission on the subject: also, it was resolved to do their utmost to make war impossible by instructing the Parliamentary committee i to confer with the miners’, transport-1 ers’, and railway-men's federations' with a view to negotiating with for-' eign trades unions; for the purpose, of joint action in the event of wai'j being imposed upon them. It was | resolved that the Insurance Act la j directed by one body of commission-1 ci’s for the whole of the 1 idled King-1 dam, and that steps be taken to givej approved societies more control.
