WORK OX THE WEST COAST. [PER PtIESH ASSOCIATION. ) Greymouth, September 8. Mr G. J. Wallis, a Sydney director of the New Zealand Greenstone Company, at present visiting the Coast, ,states that the aerial,,,ropeway is nearing completion, and before many months the company would he in a position to export green serpentine decorative building stone.. Inquiries received from Britain, Germany, and America, indicate that there will be no difficulty in securing ready markets. The Commonwealth Government has decided to use the stone in connection with the new offices in London. He hoped it was not yet too late to have, this almost exclusively New Zealand product included in the Parliamentary Buildings, Wellington. A plant sufficient to produce 100 tons, every eight, hours has arrived, and further finishing machinery has been ordered. The company is confident that it can place green serpentine on the market at a price to compete with marble and other decorative stones from any part of the world.
