The schoorier Coorge Wells has been wrecked near Capo Hatteras. Twenty men, two women and some children ■were rescued. There is great havoc along the coast due. to the hurricane. It is reported that Ocracoke Island was swept by the storm, but there’ is no confirmation. Now York' is deluged with three, inches of water., The subways are flooded, and business is temporarily suspended. The basements' are flooded,.; Electric, pumps were used | to clear the subways,.' (Received 1.40 p.m.) Now York, September 5. There was not any loss of life at Ocracoke Island.
