BOROUGH WORKS.

THE OVERSEER'S REPORT. The following report by the Borough Overseer (Mr T. D. Sullivan) is to be presented at the mooting of the Borough Council on Monday next:— A footpath has boon made on the south of Borneo Stroet between Broadway and Juliet Street at a cost: of £-'5 13s lOd. A footpath in Orlando Street South, near Mr Roweon's property, has been gravelled as authorised. Metal patching has been done on the following streets:—Swansea Road | and Juliet, Miranda and Portia Streets. The work of scarifying, remetalling, blinding and rolling Broadway from Regan Street to Pembroke Road is nearing completion, 11 (i yards of metal having been put on. Culverts have been put in at the following places: Orlando Street at its juncture with Regan Street ; two in Seyton Street and one in Broadway North. Trees have been planted 90ft apart on Broadway from Pembroke Road to Flint Road and protection frames have been built round them. Messrs Chard Bros, are making good progress with their contract, having delivered 230 yards, and they have about 50yds stripped in Branigan's pit, ready to cart out when weather permits. 1 would suggest that the Racing Club be written to asking them to lower their culvert which conveys water from their property'to PembrokeRoad, so that i can replace the old culvert which runs across the road line. I would also suggest that the bluegum which now stands on the street line near Mr Budge's property be removed. The reason f will explain verbally. There is also a fence which encroaches on the footpath fronting Mr Taylor's property which should be removed and the footpath be made up to the street line. The cost of removing the trees and fixing the footpath I estimate at £4 10s. The quantity of crushed metal on hand when Broadway to Pembroke Road is finished will be 3ooyds. There are 300yds ready for crushing at the septic tank paddock.
