ASSOCIATION. CORINTHIAN CLUB’S SUSFEN SION.
Wellington, September 1
The New Zealand council oi the Football Association to-night confirmed thy'lifo Ahspension recently imposed on memb ra of the Corinthian Club taarn by the Wellington Association, but the position of other persons affected is still under consideration.
At the offici.il reception to the Taranaki B team at Patea on Friday evening Mr J. Garcia, manager, in proposing the health of the Wairoa Sul; Union (reports the Press) said the formation of the Union was a step in the right direction. From its geographical position the district was an ideal one for a sub-union. Its formation should go far towards fostering the game in the district, which had produced such sterling footballers as Carey, Smith, Hawken, Cameron, Hamerton, Shoahan. and now Tinney and Prouse. Speaking of Prouse, he would like to tell them, as one who witnessed the recent struggle for the Ranfurly Shield in Auckland, that Prouso had no email share in bringing it hack to Taranaki. He hoped they would see it before long in Patea. The Taranaki Union would have to consider where they would keep it, and he thought it would he a good idea to let it remain a fortnight in every centre where it could be on view. He would do his best at the next meeting of the Rugby Union to have this carried into effect. In conclusion, he hoped to see the Wairoa team in Taranaki next year, when they would ho sure of a very hearty welcome. If the men present were a type of the members of the Wairoa Union then they need have no fear of its future. Long may it prosper. (Applause).
