Constable La Pouple returned to W aitara on Saturday (says tlie Mail) alter a tour of the back country, made with the object of ascertaining it there was any trace of tin l missing man, Virgin. Most diligent inquiries appear to have been made, and sonic rough country was traversed. The constable went through the Otaraoa road to Tarata, thence to Purangi and Matau. and yet further four miles back; then, crossing the Tangitu, the Mold road district and Rerekapa were reached. Meantime the constables from Mohan had been journeying over the country towards Rerekapa, and not a word could he learnt leading to the supposition that the missing man could have crossed this hack countrv.
