X.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY CO., LTD. Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 27th instant:— '['allow : —We quote present spot values for the following descriptions: —Good mutton 38s 3d per cwt, good beef 35s 9d, mixed 33s 9d. The market is dull. Wheat.—An Australian cargo has been sold at 36s 3d c.i.f. There is very little demand owing to favourable crop reports. The outlook for the general market is discouraging. Oats.—We quote Cartons 225, Sparrowbills 21s lid. The market is weak with a lower tendency. Sheepskins.—The market is slightly better.
MATTHEWS AND BENNETT'S REPORT.
Messrs Matthews, Dennett and Co. report that there was a good yarding of stock in their Tnglewood yards last Wednesday. Springers were dull of sale with the exception of good forward stuff, which were in good demand. Prices. - —Mixed yearlings £1 10s to £1 17s 6d, yearling steers £2 10s to £3 3a 6d, yearling heifem £2 i()s to £3 2s, empty heifers £3 10s to £4 2s,store cows £2 10s to £4 5s 6d, old and backward springers £3 10s to £5, good do. £5 10s to £6 10s.
WEBSTER, DOBSON AND GO'S STOCK REPORT.
At Strathnrore on Monday we bad a full yarding of stock and good attonda'nce. Bidding was fair throughout, and with the exception of one pen we cleared the yarding. Weaner heifers 38s Gd to 495, mixed weaners £2 lis Gd, colored weaner heifers 80s, empty heifers £3 9s, heifers and calves £3 9s Gd to £5 2s, springing heifers £5 to £6 os, store cows £3 10s to £4 10*, da,iry cows £5 15s to £lO 15s, f.m. ewes in lamb 16s. At Stratford on Tuesday both store and dairy yards were well filled. Competition was keen,and practically every line was sold at the hammer.
