BOWLING.

, THE STRATFORD CLUB. The following- report has been'prepared for sub.iUHS.iori to the thirteenth I annual meeting of the Stratford Botrlling Club, which is to he held in the JEorough Council Chambers at 8 o'clock j this evening: Your Committee nave pleasure m reporting a satisfactory 1912-13 season. The green, was good, the weajther perfect, and the interest taken by members showed a great improve- ! merit to the last few seasons. Owing to the absence of the secretary, il ■will be impossible to present a detailled balance-sheet, but the finances

;show a slight improvement against last year. During the season th< | usual'home matches were played, anc 'at times caused keen competition and |much pleasure. The North Island I Association tournament was held al 'Auckland during January. Your Club [was represented by two rinks, whe again failed to boat all comers, bin reported having had a jolly good time. The Taranaki tournament was hob at Now Plymouth in February, a

which your Club's reputation was up held by three rinks, one of which me; its Waterloo only in the final game. The numerous banner matches to be played during a season leaves few Bpare holidays for friendly inter-clul \ is;ts. these visits, in the past, have proved most enjoyable, and it is regrettable that more such outings could not be arranged. Discussion on thi: subject is invited.

The championship singles, with tin 0. M. Curtis trophy, was won, for th< second time,, by Mr R. McK. Morison Mr R. Masters won the beginners' trophy, and Mr Brake annexed th' handicap singles. The green ha' again received considerable winter at teiition, and should be in perfect orde' for the coining season. Players shouh have no occasion to blame "that ridgo" when they miss kitty. Befor opening the green, it will be advisabl' to repair and paint the pavilion. Seve.

ral donations have been made towarf this work, but not sufficient to war rant your committee authorising sue outlay. Tho daylight-saving move merit has advanced by half an hour so business peoplo will be able to ge v this extra play in the evonings. Tin thanks of the Club arc again due t< the ladies for assistance with the re Prcshments.
