While two men, named McDonald and Mason, wer« proceeding along a road in the vicinity of Lmnsdori,' they were attracted by the peculiar behaviour of a dog. The men followed the animal to some rushes, where a man named David Muir lay, and by bis side was a whisky flask'. He was removed to comfortable ;,'ut' foundings anil looked alter by the men, but expired next morning. At ;n inquest held, evidence was given to r • effect that deceased was GO years of age, single, without any relatives in New Zealand, and employed at Centre Hill station, near Lumsden. A verdict was returned that death uas (hie to heart failure; brought about by exposure while in- indifferent health.
