HAWKER'S GREAT EFEOIvT

Hawker's waterplane, except for the engine, is a total wreck. Kauper's arm is broken.
The newspapers unanimously acclaim their magnificent efforts, as showing that the British waterplanes ore long will win.
Mr Churchill, in a message to the Daily Mail, says that Hawker has -achieved a wonderful result. The competition has been of real valuo to British flying. "Though we started last," ho adds, "we must persevere till the firset place is gained."

Hawker stated that had he been at a greater height lie could easiiy have descended safely. He was making a spiral descent at the time of the mishap. The Times declares that Hawker deserved generous praise for his excellent -work. His perseverance and pluck had been worthily recognised by tin promoters of the competition.
KAUPER STILL IX HOSPITAL

Kauper is still in the hospital. His wounds were severe, but be is pro gressing favorably.
